
Program Description
UB’s Outbound for Short-term International Academic Program (SIAP) is a 1-2-week course (40 hours) designed by Universitas Brawijaya for UB’s students who wish to experience a non-degree program abroad. Throughout the course, students will learn from classroom experiences, multiple site visits, and project reporting. The program is self-funded by students. However, competitive incentives provided by the university are available for outstanding students.
The SIAP program aims to:
- Provide relevant knowledge and skills to students.
- Introduce students to the global academic experience
- Immerse students in an international academic institution
- Promote cultural exchange
- Improve understanding among students from different parts of the world.
The benefit of joining the course will be:
- Credit transfer (max 2 SKS MK Global Perspective-not running until end of 2023)
- Site visit experience to abroad university
- Certificate of Completion and Certificate of an international mobility
- Academic and cultural diffusion.
SIAP Program Application
- Application on the https://gae.ub.ac.id opening in July 2023
- Commencement date: First week of August and January every year
- Max 2 Weeks
- UB does not cover flight tickets and accommodation
- Destination country: Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, The Philippines
- The cost incurred depends on the country of destination.
Required output:
- Course attendance
- Project report
- Presentation in the final weeks of the course

Required Documents
- Recommendation letter from an academic advisor or relevant contact person
- Parent/Guardian Consent Letter for students under 18 years old
- Copy of Passport,
- English Proficiency Test (TOEFL, IELTS, Duo Lingo)
- Application letter
- Financial statement (for those who conduct an in-person attendance)
- If VISA is required, students could seek assistance from GAE-UB by email. If necessary, students will be interviewed by GAE.
Course Activities
The student will join an active class for most of the program, laboratory visits, library visits, and cultural exchanges. A specific project will be handed out to each student. Presentation and final report of the project are mandatory.
